How to Get There

There are essentially three different ways to get to Wildwood Stables. One is from Bar Harbor via the one-way section of the Park Loop Road. There is a turn-off on the right just before reaching the part of the road that changes to the one-way. If you miss this, there is a second entry point immediately after on the right as well. You may also get to this point from the Cadillac Mountain and Jordan Pond side of the road by heading south. Look for the entry point on the left. The third way is from Seal Harbor. Take the Stanley Road on the opposite side of the road from the public beach and head North. Turn left on the Park Loop Road and take an immediate right for Wildwood Stables. Refer to the Acadia map for location information. The stables are operated by a private business concessionaire on park land. Reservations are strongly advised and are usually accepted up to one week in advance.

Each stall has automatic water dispensers and a corner feeder for hay and feed. The floors are packed sand covered with high cushioned rubber matting and top quality wood shavings. The front of each stall is constructed of wood and metal bars which make it easy for us to check-in on them as we go about our day, and they seem to enjoy keeping tabs on us as well. Our barn is equipped with a fly spray system that uses animal safe insecticides that are safe for your horses and safely keep the flies away.
